first couple of days in georgia.
so, again, bear with me. i just asked someone in the group to format this darn thing. but yes, the first few days have been good. no sickness…yet. the flight from jfk was LONG and the movies weren’t all that great. they kept switching the gate on us for our flight to tbilisi from istanbul. the city of istanbul is beautiful…at least, it looks nice from the airport terminal. we got into tbilisi at around 4 PM on wednesday and were greeted by the camera flashes of the georgian press. basically, we’re famous [[i was also dubbed in georgian for the evening news...insert additional witticism here]]. we got our cellphones and all of $20 in the local currency…it was probably more, but as you know, i can’t do math.
first day of training went well. we got our super-duper medical kit. it’s like 20 pounds, looks like a mini secret agent suitcase and there’s no room in my luggage for it. oh.well.
tomorrow we leave for our “hub” location in an [[undisclosed location]]. i don’t know if i’m allowed to give specific site information. i think i was drifting and probably wasn’t paying attention. we get host families tomorrow and get put into our “clusters” — 4-5 people to a small village that surrounds the hub location. we will continue learning the crazy hard language that is georgian and will start other trainings that i cannot remember at this time. drifiting again. ha.
more to come. internet for the next couple of weeks is iffy :]
